Sister Wife by Shelley Hrdlitschka

Sister Wife by Shelley Hrditschka.  This takes place now, not years ago.  Celeste is not happy taking care of all the children in her polygamist family. She doesn't look forward to marrying young and having lots of babies.  She has known a friend from the "outside' who was living with them for awhile.  The young boy she is sweet on is driven out of the compound and she is assigned to marry right away. Who she  is forced to marry is a huge problem. This group does have cars, but otherwise, they are very isolated.  How can Celeste's mom survive when she needs cesarean surgery and it is not allowed?  Celeste is forced to marry but is unhappy in the plural marriage setting. The only place she can go to get away is the nearby river where she makes a friend and sees her first mobile phone!  Her sister wants to marry Celeste's husband.  The disappointing part of the book is that it ends abruptly and the epilogue picks up five years later!  I want to know how Celeste can get away,  How can she cope alone? This is an easy read, moves quickly and the interaction of "outside" and "inside" community is believable.  Finally, a novel about polygamy that shows a way for  those leaving the compound to survive on the outside.  Another 8 out of 10.
