Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline
This is a dual track story. One track, the 1929 perspective of a very young orphan girl who was sent west on an Orphan Train. Her’s is a painful journey, with a struggling landing in home after home. The other track is a 2011 perspective of a teenager who has been “in the system” for years and is struggling to find permanence and a lasting home in her life. The younger girl is such a victim of circumstances and the older girl manipulates her life to avoid being a victim. 9 out of 10. Very good; recommended. There are discussion questions for book groups. For more reviews: http://queenbeewritings.blogspot.com
